In February 2018, the popular photography platform EyeEm suffered a major data breach that compromised nearly 20 million user records. The incident, which occurred on February 28, 2018, exposed sensitive user information including names, email addresses, usernames, bios, and password hashes—most of which were secured using the outdated SHA-1 algorithm.
